The Journey. | MN Fine Art Portrait Photographer |

January is always a busy month for me…not necessarily shooting…but with planning and dreaming.  Trying to develop direction for the coming year for Olive Avenue Photography and for my personal journey in photography.  I hope to be challenged and to improve my skills and my clients’ overall experience from start to finish.  I still have a lot to do in the planning process but have a few things in the works.  First off is updating my web site…those images are mostly from 2010 and early 2011…time to get some current work on there.  Second is to give this little blog a face lift…she needs it.  Third is developing new products to offer this year.  I am so excited to now be offering gorgeous framed prints as well as a few other new goodies!

I have to say I am most excited this year to attend a couple of workshops around the country held by one of the most well known child photographers in the WORLD and a fine art photographer who takes my breath away.  Many of you have heard of Jinky Art before.  Barb Uil’s work is beyond whimiscal and I have always been in love with her use of light and color.  So excited to learn from her in September (ummmm, yes her workshops sell out a year in advance).  If you haven’t seen her amazing work and web site you must check it out HERE.  The second workshop is this spring and is more for me than my business per say.  I am going to learn to shoot film from the amazing Cheryl Jacobs Nicolai.  I’ve never felt like a true bonafide photographer because I don’t shoot film, only digital.  I am so excited to go back to the roots of photography and slow down a bit.  To think and compose more carefully before I snap the shutter…because each click is expensive!  I can’t wait to be surrounded by all the creative souls I know are attending.  I expect it to be very challenging and absolutely wonderful!

I have lots of more news coming including the details on our 2013 high school senior model search!  So excited.  2012 is going to be an incredible year…I can feel it!

What wonderful learning opportunities. I love JinkyArt. Where do you get to go for her workshop? It is exciting to continue learning and growing as a photographer.
