Keeping it Real. | Minneapolis Photography Studio |

This little guy was the first newborn to grace my home studio!  I went to college with his parents…so it was extra special to take his first photos.  He is going to be VERY loved with 2 big sisters and a big brother!  I love the photographs of him and his mommy…capturing that connection during…

The photographer did an awesome job Angela…these are precious!

Patricia @cichlee - March 13, 2012 - 1:07 am

I meant, been saying the same for awhile. I believe the other artistic images of babies sell very well so it does come down to what the parents want and will pay for in the end. It’s nice when you have a friend who trusts you to take timeless images like these.

Patricia @cichlee - March 13, 2012 - 1:05 am

Amen. Been the same for awhile. I don’t understand the babies hanging from trees and “folded” in boxes. they need no props, just parents. Beautiful series Jess. Congrats on studio! Perfect.

Hello Baby! | Minneapolis Newborn Photographer |

Another beautiful little newbie!  This little girl was sweet and sleepy…I kinda wanted to take her home with me .  I can’t wait to see her again in six months…photographing these littles for the first year of their lives is my favorite part of being a child photographer!

Back to the Start | Twin Cities Family Photographer |

Working on this session the past few days has almost brought me to tears.  This is my first family.  The first ones who trusted me to walk into their lives for a moment and capture them with my camera 3 years ago.  I remember I was so, so, so nervous.  But Keri was so sweet…

Best Friends | Minneapolis Child Photographer |

This shoot started with a location.  I am what I like to call a ‘drive by photographer.’  I drive past a location on the side of the road…see some gorgeous light…and can’t get it out of my head until I shoot there.  I’ve been passing this little stream for over a year…dreaming of this shoot….

Oh that so takes me back to that magical time. My 9 year old daughter has started to play out more with her friends now but sadly they don’t have anywhere picturesque to play. But the conversations I hear, the perfume making and home making it’s so sweet, now if I could go back in time that’s when I’d go, to life before boys !
And all those memories just show what beautiful photographs that you have taken, pictures are not just images they are a window to your memories evoking all those feelings and smells and tastes that you thought you had forgotten.
I love your view Jess x

Eden. | Minneapolis Photographer |

This location was certainly Eden-esque for me.  I drove past it on my way to meet this family and literally gasped.  This little pocket of wildflowers and glowy sunshine had to be photographed.  And then I saw what the girls were wearing…and it was a match made in heaven!  Speaking of girls.  I have been…

Fabulous as always! The last one is precious! :)

Yeah, That’s My Kid with the Stick.

So there is a thing called PKS (photographer’s kid syndrome) and my girl has ALWAYS had it.  Really, I can’t blame her.  The “black box” has been in her face most of her life.  It got to the point when she wouldn’t even LOOK at the camera anymore.  Poor child.  But gradually, we have been…

is it wrong that i am a tad bit jealous you got such good shots of your own child? ;-) when my youngest sees the camera, she runs up to me and wants to see the “baby” on the lcd screen. my oldest immediately sticks his tongue out at me. ;-)

Jen - April 27, 2010 - 2:25 pm

So it looks like spring has sprung!  And I am more than ready for it.  Ready for gardening, dinner on the patio, chalk on the sidewalk and of course…photo sessions OUTSIDE!!!  I’ve been patient all winter…taking care of the business side of things and shooting indoors.  But shooting outside is my thing and I have…
