Prepare yourself for a massive amount of photos.  I couldn’t help myself.  Partly because of who is in the photos and partly because this session hits so close to home for me.  This is Emily…and her girl, Lulu.  Emily and I met when we were adopting our girls from Vietnam 6 years ago.  They are 10 days apart.  And across a distance of a couple thousand miles, our lives have mirrored each other ever since.  Em and I have waited together for our second children for a long, long time.  I honestly think I would have totally fallen apart and given up 1000 times over if it wasn’t for her.  We have always said that we were the only ones left.  Most of our friends and family were on kid #2, 3 or even 4.  And both of us have always dreamt of having large families.  Lots of babies running around.  But life happened…and obstacles were put in our way in one form or another.  And it was her and me.  And our girls who we treasure more than anything.  That is why these photographs mean so much to me.  Because Emily means so much to me.  And because she looks at Lu the way I look at Miss P.  And that moves me to pieces.  I’ve enjoyed every single second of having 100% focus and attention on just my girl and me…and I know Emily feels the same about Lu.  They are 2 peas in a pod.

I’m hoping the next time I photograph Em that there will be 2 littles with her.  She is on a journey adopting a second baby just as I am.  Yes, we are together once more and I have faith that we will come full circle and the only tears we cry together again will be tears of joy.

Now on to the photos!  We found a magical place in North Carolina.  With a real live fairy tree.  Which is appropriate as Miss Lulu has a MAJOR thing for fairies.  Fancy the location?  Well Emily just happens to also be one of my favorite photographers herself and I am sure can hook you up with a session if you live near the Raleigh Durham area.
