last of 4 | day eleven.

I love how you just explore in the yard.  Make up games.  Tightrope walk on the garden ledge.  Today you were making dandelion bouquets.  It got off to a shaky start after Dudley (our pug) stole the first bunch and ate it.  Typical big brother foiling your plans .  But you just began again.  I…

Alright, so today’s photos are a bit more “styled” than I initially intended to shoot for this project.  But.  When she brought home the ‘letter case’ from preschool today…I couldn’t help myself.  This just immediately came to mind…oh and the dress.  I have so many vintage dresses for her that she is close to growing…

My little girl.  You are anything but easy to define.  You are complex.  Sensitive.  Sweet.  Active.  Quiet.  Loud.  Silly.  Thoughtful.  Competitive.  You are girly…but not a girly-girl.  Your favorite color is blue…it’s never been pink.  You prefer reading, arts and crafts, board games, mazes, zooming around on your plasma car and any outside activity.  You…

I took this shot just before you sailed down a HUGE hill.  A guy yelled out, “look at Evil Knievel!”  Lord help me.  This tiny one with giant courage.

last of 4 | day seven.

Just a typical day around here.  You with a painted face…in your bike helmet (safety first!) fishing with an imaginary pole and using seashells for bait.  You yelled at me when I was taking these photographs saying that I was “standing in the ocean, mom!”.  Oops .  I love you this way.  I love 4.

Mornings.  It’s our time.  You come into my room…still wobbly from sleep…and climb under the covers.  We fade in and out for awhile.  Neither of us morning people. Then you are up.  There are usually giggles and tickling involved.  Silly stories.  Cuddles.  I know this special time will soon end when you start kindergarten in…

last of 4 | day five.

So I am the mother of a bookworm.  Probably because I am one.  As a kid I’d hear, “Put down the book and go play outside” all too often .  So as I was preparing for her arrival and dreaming up all the ways I would raise my child as soon-to-be mothers often do…I vowed…

You don’t wear goggles to keep your eyes dry…it’s because you’re scuba diving.  Looking for treasure.  You’ve even given up bubbles because you are so serious about your endeavors.  Scuba on little girl!

last of 4 | day one.

So today is the start of my ‘last of 4′ photography project.  I mentioned in an earlier post that my own personal photography of my family hasn’t been super wonderful.  It was to the point where I rarely took out my ‘real’ camera at all unless I was working.  No more!  Miss P. turns 5…

January is always a busy month for me…not necessarily shooting…but with planning and dreaming.  Trying to develop direction for the coming year for Olive Avenue Photography and for my personal journey in photography.  I hope to be challenged and to improve my skills and my clients’ overall experience from start to finish.  I still have…

A New Year. | MN Lifestyle Photographer |

I’m not big on resolutions.  I’m not sure why…maybe because I try to live my life striving to be better each day.  To grow and move forward continually.  And I’d probably be overwhelmed with a very long list of things I wanted to do/change in a year.  I prefer one day at a time ….

So of course the year I commit to doing a series of snow photos…we have no snow in December.  I feel kind of burned…like if I have to put up with this cold weather for 6 months can I at least have a white Christmas?!  So we were in southern Minnesota over the weekend celebrating…

Winter Break. | Minneapolis Photographer |

One of the main reasons I started my own photography business was to give myself the ability to stay at home with my daughter.  I thought if I ran my own business and was in charge of my own work and hours that I would have more quality time with my little girl.  That has…

Mine on Monday | Minnesota Child Photographer |

We have been out and about this past week and spent some time at my parent’s house out in the country.  Little Miss and our dog Dudley are in absolute bliss when they are there.  More room to run than they know what to do with and of course Grandma and Grandpa spoil them both…
